Donor questions

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Cloud Foundation Inc. is a tax-exempt organisation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, EIN 88-2337360. Gifts from United States taxpayers are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and you will receive an acknowledgement for your records.

If I give to a named programme, does it go there?

Yes. A gift to a named campaign is used for that campaign. If you give to the street kitchen it buys meals in El Calvario. If you would rather we used it wherever the need is greatest, say “unrestricted” and we will.

How does the money get to Colombia?

Cloud Foundation Inc. receives the gift in the United States and funds the programme through Fundación Cloud, our Colombian entity, constituted in 2018, which employs and directs the staff and volunteers who deliver the work.

Where do the numbers on this site come from?

Our own records. $5 is what a meal costs us. $20,000 is what the La Guajira building and its supplies cost. 120 families in Quibdó is the count the local church recorded when they handed the packages out. Where we cannot count something yet, we say so rather than estimating.

Do people have to be religious to receive help?

No. Assistance is provided on the basis of need. Nobody is required to attend or take part in any religious activity in order to be fed, taught or helped.

Why are there no photographs of individual children on this site?

Because we do not have written consent from their parents or guardians yet. When we do, and only for the children it covers, that will change. We also never publish images identifying people in prison, in addiction recovery, or in situations of exploitation.

Can I get a report on what my gift funded?

For gifts at partnership or major-gift level, yes — that is part of the arrangement. For smaller gifts, write to us and ask; we would rather answer than have you wonder.

Who do I contact if something looks wrong?

Write to director@fundacioncloud.com and say so plainly. Joel Manderfield reads that address.
